Nintendo is diverting their attentions towards their video games now that the Nintendo World Championships has concluded. The title "ARMS" is reported to receive a new update, and teased a new character, which can be used by players to stretch their fingers and imagination along with latest fighting stage, the Sparring Ring.
In the video released by NIntendo Europe, it can be seen that most of the fighters in the game's roster are showcasing their abilities in the Sparring Ring, the same stage that was released in the previous version 3.1 update. Additionally, there seems to be a new character featured as well, who looks like some variation of the game's protagonist, Spring Man. However, the new character looks like a more evil version of Spring Man.
In a report by Gameranx, they are hoping that the more sinister looking Spring Man may actually offer more variety in terms of skill sets. It is definitely possible that the change is purely cosmetic, but players and game critics would most likely be disappointed if this is the case.
With Lola Pop having been released just last September, it could be possible that the video game's developers are not too keen on releasing a new character just yet.
It is still unclear on whether the character shown in the trailer was indeed a new addition, or just an alternate skin for Spring Man, since the footage focused more on showcasing the gameplay rather than providing concrete explanations. According to Dual Shockers, the trailer had also displayed the "acquisition of badges," which is similar to the whole process of players garnering in-game achievements.
The achievements shown in the trailer is probably a way to incentivize players for spending copious amounts of time playing the game. In effect, players will have more opportunities to hone their fighting abilities. More details will probably be revealed as the date of release draws closer.
