Season 5 of "American Horror Story" has come to an end, and while show creator Ryan Murphy and the cast are still celebrating a triumphant season, there has been a lot of speculation about season 6, particularly about its plot and cast.
Last season's "Hotel" storyline proved to be a hit as Lady Gaga stole the show in her first TV role as the Countess, and the singer even won a Golden Globe award for her work in the FX drama. According to Screencrush, the network is working to have the "Born This Way" singer back for the new season. Last year, Murphy tweeted that he officially asked the singer to join season 6. Lady Gaga has yet to respond to Murphy's invitation to return to the series.
As of the moment, no previous "AHS" actors have confirmed their involvement in season 6, but it has been speculated that Sarah Paulson, Denis O'Hare, Angela Bassett, and Peter Evans will all return for the upcoming season.
Emma Roberts has also talked about returning for another season as she told Yahoo.com that she and Murphy "said next season we'll do something amazing and devilish." She also said in the interview that she wanted to work with Lady Gaga next season.
Very little is known about the season 6 plot, but last month FX CEO John Landgraf told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour (via Variety) that the season will be set in the present day and will include flashbacks.
"It's set in the present although with echoes of the past," said Landgraf. "It's set in two time periods…but principally in the present."
It was rumored that season 6 will focus on Slender Man as Us Weekly reported that the show will have to buy the rights to use the infamous Internet meme on the series.
"Someone else wrote the script and 'AHS' wants to adapt it to fit the show," said an insider to Us. "They're going to buy the rights. Then they're going to figure out the cast from there."
However, a source told Entertainment Weekly that the Slender Man rumors are "not true." EW reports that while there is a plot already decided for season 6, it won't be officially announced until March.
A return date for "American Horror Story" has yet to be announced.
