After tackling the controversial murder case of O.J. Simpson in season 1, "American Crime Story" is now gearing up to feature a new case in season 2.

As early as January this year, executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the second season of the true-crime anthology will feature the events that happened during and after Hurricane Katrina.

"I want this show to be a socially conscious, socially aware examination of different types of crime around the world," Murphy said. "And in my opinion, Katrina was a f—ing crime — a crime against a lot of people who didn't have a strong voice and we're going to treat it as a crime. That's what this show is all about."

But aside from the plot, new reports claim that "American Crime Story" season 2 will also feature the return of several season 1 actors.

Courtney B. Vance, straight from his stellar performance as defense lawyer Johnny Cochran in season 1, confirmed to E! News that he was tapped by Murphy to return for the next installment of the series.

"I'm gonna be a part of it, yeah," the actor said. "I don't know in what capacity. I don't think any of us know yet. We're just waiting for Ryan to tell us what we're doing."

Aside from Vance, John Travolta also revealed that he is hoping to be part of season 2, especially since he is very familiar with the events that happened during Hurricane Katrina.

"I'm very interested in the Katrina story because Kelly and I were actually a part of that in real life. We went with a plane-load of medics and supplies and went deep into the parishes to help people, so I have a personal feeling about that. It touches me deeply," the actor shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
