"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 is coming, and fans are about to see a new face joining Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and company. It has been announced that Dove Cameron will soon be a part of the ABC television series.
The 21-year-old star, best known for her stint as Mal on Disney Channel's "Descendants" and "Descendants 2," first teased that she has something to announce on her Twitter page. Later, she revealed a quick video of her along with Gregg, hinting at her joining "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5.
"I'm so excited to finally get to tell you the one that I've been waiting to tell you forever," Dove says in the video. However, Gregg interrupts, pokes her, and gestures his head with a no. She then stops, gets into the golf cart with the 55-year-old actor, and says sorry to her followers.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." official Instragam account shared the same video and welcomed Cameron in the upcoming season 5. "Coulson awaits. Welcome to Marvel's #AgentsofSHIELD, @dovecameron!" the caption reads.
It is not yet revealed what Cameron's role will be in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5. There are also no words if she will be a recurring character, a guest star, or a series regular. But from the looks of it, her role would be close to Coulson and the other agents.
In the new season, fans are about to see Coulson and the rest of the team in outer space, trying their best to find their way back home. They, too, will be investigating the Marvel Cinematic Universe's cosmic side as they are about to meet new characters and enemies. As this will be a new adventure for them, they have to quickly get back to earth before it is too late.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 will begin with a two-hour special premiere episode on Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
