We can want to do things in confidence. But the less confidence we have, the greater the chance that we aren't going to do something with all our hearts, thereby decreasing the likelihood of success. God promises us that we can put our confidence in Jesus Christ knowing that in Him, His plans will always succeed.

One of the biggest hindrances to pursuing something is the fear of getting embarrassed by failure. The embarrassment of failure has such a crippling effect that it can often paralyse people and cause them to settle for mediocrity. That, however, is not what God wants for believers. He wants our hope and faith to be rested on Him so that we can run the race with confidence knowing that in Him, we will not be put to shame.
