7 scriptures on finding hope when things feel hopeless

There are two prevalent reasons why people lose today: either they give up or they fail to pursue at all. Both of these causes failure to happen because of one precedent; we give up or fail to try at all because of a lack of hope.

Hope is an important element in our walk with Christ. Hope is very different from faith. Hebrews 11:1b says "faith is the substance of things hoped for" (KJV). While faith is our response or action to circumstances and trials, hope is what causes us to respond and act. Our hope sets a firm foundation for our faith, but one question we must ask ourselves is, "Where does my hope lie?"

The thing about hope is that it has to be rested on something that is sure. When we put our hopes on something unsure, we only set ourselves on a foundation like sand, which is easily washed off when storms come. We know that there is no hope greater than the hope we have in Jesus Christ. When we put our hope in Him for all things, we set ourselves up for the vision and charge ourselves up to pursue that vision.

Here are seven scriptures on finding hope in God even in the most hopeless times.

Isaiah 40:28-31 – "Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint, nor is He weary? His understanding is inscrutable. He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint."
