5 Bible verses on being set free

The Bible clearly and repeatedly tells us that we are already set free in Christ, and that we need to live this freedom out for His glory. This truth can be found in almost all of the New Testament, giving all of us Christians the strength and instruction that we need to live our lives for the purpose of loving God and bringing God's love to those who He loves.

Here are some Bible verses speaking about our freedom in Christ.

Galatians 4:4-7 – "But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, "Abba, Father." Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."

Romans 6:1-6 – "Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin."

Galatians 5:1 – "So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law."

Romans 6:7-11 – "For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus."

John 8:36 – "So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free."
