5 Bible verses for when singing is the last thing you feel like doing

Singing is probably one of the most common things a happy person does. Be it a simple hum or an all-out spectacular a capella in shout of praise to the Lord for His goodness, we Christians should be singing our joys and praises to Him who loved us with such an extravagant love. James 5:13 says, "Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms." Indeed, we should sing unto the Lord.

But what happens when bad times come our way? Most of us don't feel like singing in praise. Some can't even hum a tune. Yet the Bible tells us to rejoice in the Lord always. No matter what happens, God remains the same. He is good yesterday, today and forever.

Here are some Bible verses that can help you hum or sing that tune to God even when you don't feel like it.

Psalm 103:1-2 – "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits."

Job 1:20-22 – "Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshipped. And he said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord." In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong."

Psalm 23:4-6 – "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

Lamentations 3:22-27 – "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul. 'Therefore I hope in Him!' The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth."

Psalm 104:33-35 – "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord. May sinners be consumed from the earth, and the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord!"
