3 Tips to Remind Yourself of God's Plans for You When You've Lost Confidence

We humans are very forgetful. We tend to forget things that aren't that important to us; we usually forget things that we haven't thought about for some time; and we also fail to remember certain things as we grow with age.

No matter how powerful God has designed our brains to be, the truth is that we will have problems with memory.

One of the things we should never ever forget, and give efforts to always remember, is the plans that God has for our lives. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that God wants us to be prosperous, hopeful, and forward-moving.

When we face certain circumstances such as tragedy and trials, however, we often lose sight of that truth.

To help you remember God's plans for you, here are some practical tips.

1. Associate the Beauty of Creation With God's Plans for You

This is a favourite. Psalm 19:1 tells us, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork."

Colossians 1:16 tells us, "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him."

When we look at the beauty of creation, always remember that a Creator created them. All of these beautiful things we call the sky, the seas, the mountains, the hills, the deserts, the forests, and all living things in them, were made for the pleasure and glory of God. Look at them and be reminded of the truth that God put you in charge of them (see Genesis 1:26).

2. See Every Person the Way God Sees Them

We often see people differently: Those who love us, we see as good and should always be with us; while those who hurt us and hate us, we see as bad and better off gone. Sadly, that's not how we're supposed to see people.

Seeing people with the eyes of God helps to remind one's self of God's plans. 1 Timothy 2:4 tells us that God "desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

God will save all men through us if we "go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15)

When we realise that we are in the equation as God's ambassadors who will preach salvation to others, we will remember that God's plans for us aren't small and insignificant. (see 2 Corinthians 5:20)

3. Be Thankful for What God Has Done and Is Doing to You in Christ

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to "always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."

When we become grateful for all that God is doing through what is happening to us, we'll never lose sight of His purpose: to make us more like Christ with each day (see Romans 8:29).

Friend, be grateful. Thank God that you're alive today, reading this article. I pray that you would never lose sight of what He has done for you on that cross of Calvary.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." – Hebrews 12:2
