3 tips to make the most of your time daily

Have you ever experienced the feeling that your time isn't enough to do all that you should and would want to?

If you say yes, then you're pretty much the person who longs to make the most use of your time. This article is for you.

God has designed each day to only have 24 hours no matter what we do to extend it. We sleep for 7-8 hours per day, and we're left with 16-17 hours for our activities. You spend some time to fix yourself in the bathroom, eat meals, commute to wherever you need to go, and you realise that you only have a few hours left to do everything: study, work, family time and recreation. Don't you just wish that you have more time to do things?

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your time daily.

1. Know your focus – your purpose

Knowing what you should be doing helps unclutter your schedule with unnecessary activities and commitments that will only steal time away from that which you should be focusing on. The Bible tells us that if we have died with Christ, we are now living for Him and for Him alone – isn't that freeing?

Knowing that you should live for Christ, choose to do the things that honour Him and please Him. Things such as spending time with God in prayer, preaching the gospel with your mouth and life, as well as doing good works for the glory of the Father are very fulfilling, too!

2. Plan ahead

Jesus said in Luke 14:28-30, "But don't begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, 'There's the person who started that building and couldn't afford to finish it!'"

Although Jesus was talking about the cost of being His disciple in that passage, the principle holds true for all that we plan to do. We should consider the resources in our disposal, including the money, time and strength that we have, and counter-check it with the level of priority that each activity or commitment has, so that we can make plans that will actually work! Also, don't forget to write down what you plan to achieve for the Lord (see Habakkuk 2:2).

3. Trust in the Lord

In all that you do, trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him. He will surely guide you so that you will accomplish things that He wants you to accomplish (see Proverbs 3:5-6). If ever your efforts for the day come up short, you can still do better next time. Do your best and trust in the Lord for those that you can't do.
