3 Things You Can Do to Help Your Spouse Trust in God

In marriage, both the husband and wife are given the lifelong opportunity to serve one another. One of the best ways they can do that is to help each other learn to trust God in whatever circumstances they face. After all, God intended marriage to be an exclusive covenant partnership between a man and a woman all for His glory and pleasure.

Be a Blessing to One Another

Husbands are commanded to love and lead their wives, while wives are told to submit to their husbands, both of them doing it in submission to Christ (see Ephesians 5:21-33).

When both partners do it, trusting in God, great things happen. Both of them become blessings to each other, fulfilling the roles they are given in marriage.

A husband who loves his wife like Christ loved the church fulfils her deep-seated longings to be pursued, loved, protected, and cared for. A wife who submits to her husband like the church submits to Christ, on the other hand, gives him the respect, acknowledgement, and support that he deeply needs. Both of them are able to trust God and love Him more when they are satisfied with each other.

Do you want to help your spouse trust in God all the more? Whether you're a husband or wife, here are some things you can do.

1. Keep Reminding Each Other to Trust in God

No matter what circumstance you face, remind one another to trust in God. Remind each other of what Christ has done, of what God has promised in His Word, of what He wants both of you to do according to the Word of God.

Point each other to Christ always. (see Hebrews 12:2; Titus 2:3)

2. Share Your Faith and Hope to Each Other

When confusing situations, puzzling problems, and often stressful circumstances come (and they will), make it a point to encourage one another to trust God by sharing your hopes in the Lord.

Remind one another to trust instead of worrying, instead of swerving in faith. Share your struggles to one another and encourage one another. (see Hebrews 3:13)

3. Pray for One Another

More than just reminding one another about Christ's finished work and encouraging one another to hope in God, do pray with and for each other.

Declare God's power and will over your life as a couple. Declare Him as King over all you are going through, whether good or bad. (see Psalm 34)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
