3 reasons why we can put our hope in God when we feel hopeless

There are times in life when we feel like we've lost all hope. We've tried all the alternatives, tried to do what we've never done before, even strived to overcome even when we can't see any signs that point to any good outcome.

It's in these moments of hopelessness that we are given the opportunity to prove that we can hope in the Lord our God, who remains sovereign and King over all that we face.

Here are some reasons why we can put our hope in God when we feel hopeless.

1. God is higher than anything that causes us to feel hopeless

Psalm 113:4-5 says, "For the Lord is high above the nations; his glory is higher than the heavens. Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high?"

God is higher than anything that causes us to worry and feel like a total wreck. Ask yourself what causes your feelings of hopelessness. Is it the need for more money? Is it healing from a dreaded disease? Is it freedom from any form of bondage or slavery to sin? Is it the fear of conflict, death, lack, or war? Whatever it is, God is higher than it.

2. God's ways are higher than ours

At times we feel hopeless because we can't see any other way, other than our way. We have to understand that God's ways are different.

According to Isaiah 55:8-9, "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."

When you think and feel like there's no other way to get around what you're facing, God has something up His sleeve. You can count on Him.

3. Jesus is Lord over all

When we say that Jesus is Lord over all, it means that He is Lord over any and every thing that appears to present itself as mighty and powerful over our lives. No matter how great the test or how devastating the problem, Jesus is still Lord over it.

Philippians 2:9-11 says, "Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Whatever it is that causes you to feel hopeless, it has to bow down to the Lordship of Christ.
