3 reasons to believe that you can do great things

We have all been destined to do great things. It doesn't really matter if these things are big or small, because all of them matter to God, who designed us and expects us to do them. Do you believe that?

For those who believe that and can't see themselves doing great things, here are some reasons for you to believe that you can.

1. God designed you for good works

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10)

Brothers and sisters, all of us have been designed by God for good works, which are great things in His sight. This simply means that in Christ, you have been endowed with the ability to stop doing what is wrong, to stop being mediocre, and to start doing and keep on doing what is good and right and just.

Doing what is good requires no special training. You have to believe that you can do good – and be good at doing what is good – simply because God designed you for it.

2. Christ is your strength

At times, we find it hard to believe that we can do great things because they are too great for us, or that we don't have the strength and capacity to do them. The apostle Paul disagrees, encouraging us that we can do all things through Christ.

"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:11-13)

Friends, if we are in Christ, we can do all things because He strengthens us to do them.

3. God is with us

Aside from us being designed for good works and being strengthened by Christ, another reason for us to believe that we can do great things is because God is with us.

Consider the promise Jesus made along with the great commission, in Matthew 28:18-20.

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."

Not only that, we have the indwelling Holy Spirit in us, who is the same Spirit that did the impossible in raising Christ from the dead.

"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." (Romans 8:11)
