10 verses to help us deal with difficult people

We've all had our personal encounters with people who can be difficult to deal with. It could be because of culture or mindset differences, an unpleasant past experience or just simple impressions that make it hard to get along with someone.

But the Bible teaches us that God is a God who values unity and peace, not quarrelling and strife. It's so sad to see so many believers nowadays making such a big fuss out of small things such as the differences that they have. God calls us to set these differences aside and to love and respect one another whether or not it seems convenient not to even bother.

I'm not saying that there's no such thing as horrible people, but we must always bear in mind that one way or another, we are no better. We all equally need the grace of God and the fullness of Christ in our lives and the way we do that is to love each other just as Christ loved us even when we were sinners who were also difficult (and most likely still are) to deal with. Here are some scriptures that can guide you in dealing with people who can be difficult for you to deal with.

Proverbs 10:12. "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses."

Proverbs 15:1. "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Proverbs 28:13. "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy."

Matthew 7:3-4. "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?"

Matthew 5:44-45. "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."

Luke 6:27-29. "But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold"

Romans 14:13. " Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother."

Ephesians 4:15. "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"

Colossians 4:6. "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."

1 Peter 3:9. "Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing."
